There are many different types of Skin Conditions, the causes of which are described in Traditional Chinese Medicine in terms of excessive internal Damp or Heat. Where the cause is damp heat, the skin is weeping, there is discharge and hotness. Where the  heat is in the blood, then dryness and redness are the symptoms and the patient suffers from itchiness .Through investigation the Chinese Doctor will decide the cause  and prescribe the necessary Herbs accordingly.

All of the Herbs used at the Chinese Medical Centre are imported directly from China. Those used for the treatment of Skin Conditions are usually in a granular form which dissolve in hot water. Taking these Herbs is like making a cup of instant coffee, what could be easier! The granular Herbs are particularly good for children because less liquid is used in making a dose. Natural Chinese Dried Herbs are also used for severe cases.

Patients who are taking Steroids will continue taking them for a short time in conjunction with the Herbs, after which the Herbs will take over. 

A dose is normally taken morning and evening but this is often reduced to once a day as the condition improves. Treatment times vary enormously and depend on the severity and the length of time the patient has been suffering from the condition. During the course of the treatment patients can expect flare-ups but these gradually reduce and are usually eliminated completely.

Children from six months upwards can be treated with Herbs internally. Babies under six months can use Herbal Creams or Skin Washes until they are old enough to take Herbs internally.
